Lucky Strike Lanes Announces Its Participation in Movember

Lucky Strike Lanes, the nation’s premiere chain of upscale bowling and lounges continues a tradition of philanthropy by announcing a partnership with Movember. Movember is a global charitable organization that raises awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically cancer affecting men. A mash-up of the words “moustache” and “November”, the charity’s supporters grow a moustache throughout the month of November. For the month of November, Lucky Strike will encourage guests to participate by growing their own moustaches, and contributing to the cause to change the face of men’s health.

Lucky Strike will be registered at Movember.com, which will track the progress of funds raised, and through social media outreach will invite bowling guests to create their own “Mo Space” profiles on the site. At all Lucky Strike locations throughout the country, guests can add cash donations to their final bill, or donate 10% of a private party’s food and beverage order back to the charity. Lucky Strike will also be donating “Mo Pin Parties”, which will offer complimentary bowling for groups of up to 8 and creating custom bowling pins for “Lame Mo” winners (those with the weakest moustache in the group).

Participation in Movember is not only fun, but simple. Once registered at www.movember.com, men are challenged to start the month clean-shaven and grow a Mo. The moustache becomes the hairy ribbon for men's health and the guys growing them become a walking billboard for 30 days. The growth of a new Mo inspires conversations about not often talked about topics - men's health and cancer affecting them. Women who register are key to the campaign’s success. They act as Mo ambassadors, spreading the word and showing their support for men’s health and the moustache. In the US, funds benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Over one Hundred Yelpers gathered for a Yelp Elite Event hosted at Lucky Strike Philadelphia. Yelpers experienced free bowling, stiff drinks and appetizers for a couple of hours on Monday, Sept. 26th. Below are snippets of some of the best reviews:

Seriously though, I love every event (how could you not?!), but this one will definitely be in my top 5. I'm totally fine with just eating, drinking and talking... but because this one had activities it added a new dimension of awesome. - Gwen T.

This was my second Elite event and what a great time. While we were waiting in line a friendly server approached and offered pints in line. This was only the beginning of the EXCELLENT service I encountered. I never even went to the bar as the servers were on point all evening. - Ron C.

Lucky Strike, the nation's premiere chain of upscale bowling and lounges, will begin its partnership with Breastcancer.org this month. Breastcancer.org is the leading online resource for breast health and breast cancer information and support.

Lucky Strike Manhattan, NY partnered in two successful events in the past which raised over $1.0 million for Breastcancer.org through the annual "Bowling for Breastcancer.org" event. The success of these events brought Lucky Strike and Breastcancer.org together to raise funds, build awareness and continue to educate on breast cancer. In the U.S. alone, it is estimated that there were over 250,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in 2010 and over 2.5 million breast cancer survivors. It is projected that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, it is critical that people have access to essential information whenever they need it.

No, that can't be right because Lucky Strike showed off the new Lucky Strike Puma shoes. The Manhattan location held a kick off party the other night and hosted some celebrities.

Puma and the trendy bowling chain Lucky Strike unveiled a collaboration of bowling shoes Thursday, at an event that aptly reflected the new marriage between the playful bowling alley and the laid-back sneaker brand. The black leather shoes—with the classic Puma swoosh in silver—fit in among the high-profile event, featuring an impressive coterie of singers, actors, stylists and designers.

Black Cards guitarist Pete Wentz performed at the launch, and Hustle and Flow actress Taryn Manning, currently on a press tour for her new film The Perfect Age of Rock and Roll, which debuts August 5, DJed for party-goers. Manning kept her look casual and cool, donning grey Million Dollar Denim jeans, a green Joie top, and a black and white striped David Szetco Paris sweater, and completed the look with orange Kathy Gene shoes.

Our menu was designed by Bill Starbuck, who has provided food for the Emmys, the Grammys and hundreds of Hollywoods’s largest movie premieres. The food that we offer is restaurant quality dishes. Our grilled apple & brie quesadilla has grilled apple slices and brie cheese that is folded in a toasted flour tortilla, drizzled with mustard-maple syrup and smokey bacon bits. It is a dish that you will not find at any other bowling alley. Lucky Strike is a great place to eat lunch or dinner even if you don’t feel like bowling.

This past week Jim Carrey hit the town and decided to roll a few balls at Lucky Strike Manhattan. Now, Jim Carrey is one funny guy, but when it comes to bowling he may not rank as high. I imagine his 97 was not his personal best, but who can blame the guy. He has been out promoting his new movie "Mr. Popper's Penguins", which means he hasn't been able to hit the lanes as much as he would like. Jim Carrey did blamed his low score on a particular item. Lucky Strike Hollywood 8th Anniversary

2003 was the end of an era for the iconic Hollywood Star Lanes, an institution that served Hollywood for 43 years and was home to the filming of “The Big Lebowski”. In March it was leveled to make way for a school. But just as the door to one icon closed, another opened.

In April of that year Lucky Strike debuted its first location in Hollywood. Wanting to pay homage to its predecessor, Lucky Strike purchased Lane #7 from Star Lanes and made it Lucky Strike Hollywood’s bar. It’s been good luck ever since. Eight years and 20 locations later Lucky Strike continues to roll its way across the country.

And on May 19th, Lucky Strike Hollywood celebrated their 8th Anniversary. The celebration started with thanking all of the original Lucky Strike employees who still work for the company to this day. Also the Puma Bowling shoes were introduced, which can be found at select Lucky Strike locations throughout the country. And finally, we introduced the Lucky Girl Hollywood.

White Sox host second annual Celebrity Bowling Classic

The Chicago White Sox will host the second annual White Sox Charities Celebrity Bowling Classic on Sunday, June 12 from 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Fans have the opportunity to join White Sox players and coaches as they trade in their spikes for bowling shoes and throw strikes of a different kind, all in an effort to benefit pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at Children's Memorial Hospital and Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago.

The White Sox Celebrity Bowling Classic, presented by Miller Lite, will take place at Lucky Strike Lanes (322 E. Illinois Street) in Chicago. The event includes bowling, food, cocktails, a premium White Sox auction, raffle prizes and a special gift for all attendees. White Sox players Juan Pierre, Gordon Beckham and Sergio Santos are just some of the stars scheduled to attend.

Fans can participate in the event in a number of ways, including signing up for an "Ace Team" that bowls 10 frames with a celebrity on their team, or on a "Reliever Team" which is the lane cheer team.

A who's who of Chicago's sporting world was in the house for former Chicago Bear Jerry Azumah's annual charity event at Lucky Strike Lanes. The event benefited Azumah's ASAP Foundation, which helps raise funds for disadvantaged students and featured celebrity bowling teams and a silent auction and raffle with prizes that included two tickets to next year's Super Bowl.

I wonder if the NFL lockout lasts much longer if some of the current NFL players will try to make a living bowling?

He recently instructed waiters at Swifty's and at Lucky Strike Lanes how to make a "halftini" -- and it makes James Bond's "shaken, not stirred" mantra seem like minor mixology. At Swifty's, our spies report, the drill was: Fill a shaker with ice to the top; squeeze in five lemon twists; use Absolut vodka and "a little extra" dry vermouth. Shake very well until ice cold. (Adds a Lucky Strike witness: "Very well" means, "until the bartender couldn't shake the glass anymore.") Strain the drink twice into a cold martini glass with three more twists. Serve.

Last Thursday, Oct. 21st Lucky Strike hosted a special night at the PUMA Social club on Sunset Blvd to reveal the future PUMA Lucky Strike bowling shoe. Party goers were able to enter to win a free pair of shoes and have their choice of playing ping pong, foosball, or Wii bowling. The Phatal DJ was spinning that night and Yelp donated the photo booth courtesy of Project Photobooth.

The PUMA Lucky Strike bowling shoes will be hitting several major markets next year and eventually rolled out at each location. They will be available to rent or buy!

You have probably already seen it on NYMag.com, Starpulse, and TMZ. Early this month Justin Bieber and Jaden "The Karate Kid" Smith faced off in the ultimate test of manhood...A dance off. That's right! In our very own Lucky Strike Lanes Manhattan, Bieber and Smith battled it out after their concert at Madison Square Garden.

Sources say Bieber took home the title with a "Moonwalk" but that Jaden Smith put up a worthy fight considering a 4 year age difference. Below are some photos from the event provided by TMZ.

Lucky Strike Phoenix Coming Together

We are in the final stretch of opening of our newest location at 50 W. Jefferson St in downtown Phoenix in the new CityScape development. We are part of CityScape's initiative to energize downtown Phoenix with the spirit of the new urban lifestyle.

Lucky Strike Lanes First Bowling Wedding

Lucky Strike is not only a great place to take a date, host a kick ass party, or just watch a game, but apprently it is also a nice venue for a wedding...WHAT!?

That's right. Rachel Sifuentes recently got married at Lucky Strike Lanes in Orange County. Walking the alley instead of the isle the wedding party chose an alternative route to the expensive traditional wedding.
Stephanie Chen of CNN wrote in a recent article about creativity being priceless in a bad economy:

Sifuentes’ bowling alley wedding in January may not have been traditional, but the creative ceremony saved her thousands of dollars at a time when wallet tightening has become necessary for many American families. Her offbeat wedding is representative of a growing trend, wedding experts say, as brides are discovering cheap can be chic, and also inspire innovative party ideas.
But her bowling alley wedding turned out to be classy, she said. About 70 of the couple's closest friends and family members joined them to feast on an Italian buffet. There was plenty of dancing, but they also found time to bowl.

Jimmy Rollins 5th Annual BaseBOWL Tournament

For the fifth year in a row Lucky Strike Philadelphia has held the Jimmy Rollins BaseBOWL Tournament to raise funds and awareness for the Eastern Pennsylvania Juvenile Arthritis Foundation and the Rollins Family Foundation. The Jimmy Rollins Family Foundation strives to help children and young adults living with arthritis by providing funds and awareness about the disease.

Jimmy Rollins, if you don't know, is the the Phillies short stop and a 2008 World Series Champion and 2007 National League MVP. For the last five years he has held a celebrity bowling tournament featuring athletes, sports personalities and entertainers, teamed with foursomes made up of executives from corporations to benefit the Pennsylvania Arthritis Foundation and the Jimmy Rollins Family Foundation.

This year the best celebrity sighting was watching the Phillie Phanatic and Lucky Strike's very own Mr. Pin on the dance floor.

Yes we are biased but someone else said it so it HAS to be true. Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge in Orange County was recently listed in the OC Metro as one of the 10 best companies to work for. Fashion Delivers at Lucky Strike Lanes Manhattan

Last night Fashion Delivers Charitable Foundation partnering with Forever 21® hosted their Pay it Fashion Forward event at Lucky Strike Lanes in Manhattan to raise money for Haiti relief efforts. The event was hosted by Emmanuelle Chriqui of HBO’s “Entourage” and Bryan Greenberg of HBO’s “How To Make It n America,” and honored Lane Carlson and Helena Houdova ( Sunflower Children Organization), Carlos Campos (Carlos Campos), Summer Rayne Oaks (model-turned-activist and author of “Style, Naturally”) and make-up artist Rose-Marie Swift (RMS Beauty) for their positive influences on their communities and the environment.

Forever 21® turned Lucky Strike’s bowling lanes into runways and hosted an unprecedented fashion show to showcase their 2010 collection. Below are a few photos taken by Anthony Collins during the event.

A.L.S. Hosted Their Annual Gala at Lucky Strike in Hollywood

Stars and supporters of Project A.L.S. gathered together at Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood for their annual gala to raise money and offer support for finding a cure for A.L.S., also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Mr. Pin Spotted Running in Miami

Lucky Strike's very own MR. Pin along with 20,000 runners took over the streets of downtown Miami Thursday evening, April 29, 2010 for the 25th annual Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run, the third-largest 5k race in the country.

It was Happy Hour at its happiest, a time for group photographs and cheers.
There was a runner in a stuffed buffalo head. Another dressed as a giant bowling pin (for Lucky Strike lanes). One ran barefoot. Another ran backward. A few pushed strollers. There were lawyers and chefs, janitors and accountants, rabbis and construction workers. - Miami Herald

Never a shortage, it was if the Lucky Strike staff were geared up for mass production (and consumption) because the food & beverage just kept rolling off the assembly line.
